dominATE with Stray Kids in NYC
After last year at Shitty Field I mean Citi Field in NYC I swore I’d never return. So when Stray Kids announced that was a stop on their dominATE tour I obviously bought tickets. I hadn’t seen them live since 2022 and most of The Collective hadn’t seen them live yet. We broke into groups for ticketing as some of the girls wanted to get really good seats, VIP in addition to going multiple nights. I ended up just going on Thursday with Marie. We left after work so we did hit a lot of traffic getting to the stadium (public transit from Port Authority would have taken even longer so we opted to park at the field) but we did get to hand out freebies on the highway as everyone was stuck in concert traffic.
I made a Case143/Maxident themed outfit with cute jean shorts with puff pain hearts all over them, a shirt with hand stitched hearts, and an amazing purse in the shape of a heart I got from one of my FAVORITE online stores (Pink Moon Atelier). I was hoping they’d play Case143 but I did see the setlist a few days before the concert and was a little sad to see it not included (and not really any songs from that era). We DI
D however get Giant which kind of makes up for everything. If they had only included Circus…
It rained- SHOCKED I AM NOT. Thankfully that delayed the concert just enough that we didn’t miss anything, but it did continue to mist most of the night. We were rocking the broke bitch seats in the 500s, but I didn’t hate our view and the sound wasn’t awful.
In true SKZ fashion the stages were great with everything from props to multiple costume changes, a love band and of course amazing dancers to join them. The energy was great, they are always bouncing around and having a great time when on stage. The setlist wasn’t my favorite as the subunit songs this comeback were not in my high rotation BUT after seeing them live I actually ended up liking them a lot more. I have a much deeper respect for Cinema (Lee Know and Seungmin) after seeing it live- I’m not a ballad person but I appreciate the lyrics a lot and it’s nice to see a soft side to Lee Know.
Their vocals are always great, they are fantastic dancers and they ALL were meant to be on the stage. I love that they come out on the little carts for the encore, and LOVED the Carhart overalls with the SKZOO keychains. I was bummed Han had his tattoos covered up but definitely enjoyed seeing how much they have bulked up over the last few years. My best friend is a Changbin bias (talk about a glow up) and I’m a Han/I.N bias so I was not well once I saw them hit the stage. But lusting over some good looking guys aside, I’m not sure if it was a combination of just having quit a job I liked (but management was poor) and not having my friends, the heat/humidity/rain or the rushing to get there on time but I definitely felt tired and was not in my usual concert yay mood. Hopefully this will change as I am seeing them again in DC! Until next time SKZ… aka in 3 days!
