Simon Says… It’s Neo Culture Technology
I’ll be the first to admit that if I had to pick an NCT unit to be my favorite it would hands down be Dream. That being said, seeing Yuta and Johnny in concert while also seeing my bias Haechan and the one and only Mark Lee? Say less I’m in. The rest of my friend group also loves the unhinged noise music that is NCT127 and we knew the boys on US soil was going to be a blast.
I will never tire of saying this- Prudential is a great venue. I will say it until I turn blue and everyone who frequents my website has it memorized- easy travel, safe and plentiful parking, ease of entry, no bad seats- and cute bistro (shout-out to Ella’s and their spicy pomegranate marg!). Merch lines went quickly and there was a lot to choose from, but I already had the lightstick and decided to forgo a T shirt.
I did look at the setlist prior to the show and while I was sad to miss a few favorites (seriously boys no Simon Says? And no FAVORITE?!) there were some classics and we all lost our minds for Sticker- which never ceases to stump them- as sadly our Sticker loving leader Taeyong was in military and not here for the tour (Jaehyun too). Outfits and stage design great- although I was bummed about no live band and an overwhelming amount of clothing on Yuta and Johnny (come on you two… TAKE IT OFF). I love seeing the sea of green lightsticks and the place was packed for their first stop of the North American leg of their Momentum tour!
It was interesting to see who they had pick up on various members’ lines- as Teayong and Jaehyun were enlisted already and he-who-shall-not-be-named had a lot of impressive lines to pick up (but don’t worry Doyoung KILLED it). It was a nice surprise to see Haechan pick up some rap lines- though I am most definitely biased.
I’m still a hardcore Dreamie through and through, but did enjoy hearing some of the songs that got me back into Kpop after a few years hiatus live for the first time since waiting for the music videos to drop about a decade ago. Now to complete my infinity stones WAYV needs to get their asses over here… Keep announcing a world tour that only goes through Asia- COME ON SM.
